Project Brief
A darling beach cottage style home located in Laguna Beach, CA was in need of some help in the Guest Bedroom.
Our clients had grown up children who wanted to visit with their adorable grand babies. The trouble was… the Guest Bedroom let in so much light from the window that it was difficult for the kids and grand babies to nap during the day.

The Results
First and foremost: To combat the “too much sun the grand babies won’t sleep” problem… we specified and installed a room darkening roller shade. This special shade was a ‘heavy hitter’ for my client because it not only was the perfect solution, it provided so many benefits. Such as –
- sun and light control
- energy efficiency (keeps the room cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter)
- decorative (it’s gorgeous!)
- easy to operate (no complicated moving parts, ‘codes’ or batteries)
Through a highly specialized process, our gorgeous embroidered linen was carefully laminated to a room darkening vinyl backing. This backing not only darkens the room, but it protects the linen fabric and the front of the shade from the elements, the heat, sun, drizzling rain, moisture, etc.[/fusion_text][separator style_type=”none” top_margin=”1″ bottom_margin=”” sep_color=”” icon=”” width=”” class=”” id=””][fusion_text]Roman Fabric Shade: This shade provides a nice pop of color as well as privacy. It also allows the light to come into the room so that it doesn’t always have to be “dark” to be private. Everyone enjoys this room so much now, all the kids (big and small) want to be in there.
Draperies: Gently gathered draperies with an iron rod and rings, in a light cotton ticking stripe, cover the french doors. They also provide warmth and help to quiet the sounds from the wood floors that run throughout the house.
Bedding: An ocean blue duvet cover helps provide a sense of serenity, calm and peacefulness in this room. The pop of blue and white creates a crisp and cheerful atmosphere.
Grandmother’s Wicker Rocking Chair: This chair held great sentiment for my clients, as it was a lovely white rocking chair that helped rock babies and grand babies to sleep for decades. This special chair received a soft, sunflower yellow cushion, with hand embroidered flowers and stitching.
