All of us have been confronted with the pungent smell of paint. It is not only irritating but it can also be the cause of serious headaches, literally and metaphorically.

The VOC levels (Volatile Organic Compounds) are the source of the bad smell the paint radiates. The higher the level, the stronger the odor will be. These volatile organic compounds are gases emitted for various types of liquids or solids that can be harmful if inhaled for a long period of time. This is the reason why researchers have developed an improved type of paint. This new paint can be described as odor free because the levels of VOC are very low thus the fumes emitted are not sensed by humans.

When starting a painting project for your home you should make sure that the materials you use are the top of the line. It is important to make the right decisions in order to create the best outcome for your project. Taking into consideration the amount of information that can be found in the media regarding the toxicity of the volatile organic compounds it is only sane to purchase the right type of paint.

This is the reason why the odor free paint has been invented. You no longer have to fear that the gases for the regular paint are going to harm you and your family. It is very good to invest in high quality materials as they are safer and also better to use. Alongside the major breakthrough in the smell sector, this paint has other qualities as well. The drying time is reduced by nearly two thirds so you can paint your room in the evening and after a couple of hours it will be ready for use. Furthermore, one has a variety of colors to choose from so your painting project will be even more interesting.

In conclusion I have to say that the best way to reduce the pungent smell that comes with painting is to buy quality paint. This is the best way to make sure that your home will not only look great but will smell great also.

Your idea of what a romantic bedroom looks like will depend on your beliefs about romance overall. What generates images of romance for one person doesn’t even light a spark for others, much less a fire. This can be very true even for those who have been together for many years.

Busy lives, demanding jobs, and endless deadlines have all but minimized the notions of romantic bedrooms. Escalating personal and professional demands leave us almost no time for romance or dream-chasing. Clean sheets are a given and a bed that’s made earns high marks for sleeping, but that’s about all.

To really turn up the heat, make your romantic bedroom the inviting oasis you intended for your spouse or partner, use these can’t miss ideas to turn up the heat. In combination, they’ll send a sensually effective signal that your spouse or partner can’t possibly miss. Prepare yourself for an immediate response.

1) Shed some light – While electric lighting has its purpose, it can put a damper on the atmosphere you are striving for. Avoid fluorescents, which create a stark, business-like environment. Use soft lighting in various colors. Decorative oil lamps or antique lanterns can create a dreamy feel. Candles offer wonderfully subtle lighting in any style of romantic bedroom décor. While tea candles will always work, use decorative candles that match your décor.

2) Hint of romance – Just as the oven’s aroma sparks the appetite for food, the fragrance of the bedroom stimulates our senses as well. While bland foods can be sufficient, the aromas from certain dishes can create immediate cravings. Not convinced? Stop by your local bakery first thing tomorrow morning for a cup of coffee. What happens? You’ll end up leaving with the coffee and a plain white paper bag filled with danishes, donuts or some other sweet smelling pleasure.

3) Perfect topping – Security is a residual component when developing and sharing an intimate relationship. The natural progress of the relationship can be advanced by creating a definite boundary signifying its’ importance. A canopy transforms a bed from a piece of furniture into a sanctuary perpetuating closeness and intimacy.

When creating your romantic bedroom, remember to keep your spouse or partner in mind. There are certain predictable risks with any aspect of an intimate relationship. But everything will be fine if the theme you choose expresses appreciation and celebration of the unique bond that is shared between the two of you. A caring and warm romantic bedroom will allow your bond to be strengthened on the spiritual, emotional and physical levels.

Not all home decorating ideas require a heavy investment of time and money. If you’re looking for a few affordable home interior decorating ideas to freshen up a room over a weekend, try these ten:

1. Rearrange The Furniture- Pull your furniture away from the walls. Try positioning it at intriguing angles. For example, a sofa arranged diagonally across a narrow living room will make the room look wider.

2. Paint A Wall- Paint one wall your favorite color and make it the focal point. Hang interesting art on that wall and move a nice piece of furniture there. (Note: Make sure that the color is one that is shared with several other objects and fabrics in the room.)

3. Bring In Plants- Greenery always adds a breath of fresh air to a room. If you don’t have a green thumb, try silk plants and trees. The quality has gotten so good that its hard to distinguish them from the real thing.

4. Lay An Area Rug- An area rug is a wonderful way of defining a conversation area. Try one that complements the room. Lay it at an angle beneath your coffee table.

5. Hang Pictures or Mirror- Hang pictures that reflect your personality. Try frames that are more ornate. When hanging a mirror, try and position it so that it reflects and nice view or an interesting architectural element.

6. Group Figurines- Pull out your favorite collectibles. Show off your personality. Find a display area and group related objects together, in sets of three or five. Try and vary the shapes.

7. Add Decorative Pillows- The good news about decorative pillows is that they are an easy way to add textures and patterns to a room. Still better, they can be changed to jazz up a sofa or chair before your room is ready for a major makeover.

8. Replace Lamps- Lamps are probably the one thing in your home that will give others a clue that your room is outdated. Seek out new and fresh lamps that make a statement.

9. Add A Throw Or Afghan- Similar to decorative pillows, throws and afghans add texture to your furniture. They come in all kinds of natural and man made fabrics. Find a pattern and style that you like.

10. Eliminate Clutter- Clutter has a way of eliminating the desired mood and effect of any room. Find storage spaces for papers, toys, and other items that take from the personality of a room.

7 Simple Steps To A Welcoming Home

Did you know you perform mini-audits in your home every day? There are closet audits, seasonal item audits, heater vents, water filters, etc. But when’s the last time you walked through your home with a keen eye and thoroughly audited your decorating? Take 20 minutes and complete this easy home decorating audit to insure your guests feel comfortable and welcome when in your home.

Let’s Begin. To avoid overwhelm, conduct your audit one room at a time. With a pad of paper in hand, walk through each room and ask yourself the following questions and be brutally honest.

1. Clutter- The number one way to uplift and add life to a room is to remove the clutter. Take time to review model homes in your area or magazine pictures. Notice how clean and uncluttered the rooms are. Put it in the garage, store it or donate it. Out with the old, make room for the new.

2. Floors- Is it time for new carpet throughout or would a good cleaning suffice? What about the tile, wood or linoleum? Are they in need of repair or is it time to upgrade to today’s colors and styles? As one of the largest surface areas in your home, the flooring you choose can greatly influence the overall style and feel of your home. It’s important to keep it clean, current and up to date.

3. Walls- When is the last time you painted? Is it time to patch, paint and add some new color? Paint is the quickest, easiest and least expensive way to dramatically change a room. What about wallpaper? It’s making a comeback, but if you’ve had yours since the last time it was popular, it’s probably time to replace it with something new.

4. Window Treatments- Are your window treatments broken, in need of repair or replacement? Can’t get the shade to go up or down? Still have those temporary paper shades up? It’s time to get moving. The window treatments you choose are a major focal point in most rooms. If you skimp there, it sets the tone for the room to look skimpy and unfinished.

5. Furniture- Does it still go with the style of your home? No need to go out and get all new furniture if you still love the style. If need be, have it cleaned by a professional service, or reupholstered. It’s amazing what a good upholsterer can do.

6. Lighting- Do you have only a few table lamps or something glaring overhead? Use a combination of lighting styles to create a warm and inviting room – task, overhead, spot, dimmers, accent. Don’t try to solve all your lighting issues with just one lighting style. Use them in combination. Think about relaxing in front of a fireplace and how mesmerizing that feels. If you tried to read with that light, you’d get a headache. Remember to use the correct lighting for the task at hand whether it be reading, relaxing or decoration.

7. Accessories- This is the fun part. Mementos, gifts, artwork, photos, heartfelt pieces, these are what make your house your home. Accessories are important, but placement is key. Try not to overdo it with too many small pieces scattered around the house. Remember less is more. Then, have fun with this, it’s the icing on the cake!

Once you conduct your home decorating audit, you’ll have a great place to start. You’ll know exactly what needs to be done and what to do next to insure your family and friends enjoy the beauty of your home. Have fun and enjoy the decorating!
